PAAL is excited to be a partner of Project Sole!
PAAL is going to be collecting shoes for Project Sole!
What is Project Sole? Project Sole is a nonprofit “humanitarian organization that uses shoes to improve the community and make the world a better place.”
About Project Sole: “Shoes are a means to an end. Because there are germs in dirt that cause infections and diseases to our skin, footwear is an important barrier to protect health. Most of us are not affected by this issue because we have more than one pair of shoes, and we live in sanitary conditions. However many countries use dirt roads and financial resources are scarce. The shoes we distribute provide a practical and economical solution for a basic necessity.” www.projectsole.org
What we’re looking for & collecting: The most versatile shoes are athletic based. Running, basketball, soccer, cross-training, volleyball, skate shoes and hiking boots are the most needed because they provide preeminent support and durability. They are also the most common and widely used worldwide. Shoes to avoid are: sandals, baseball/football cleats and high-heels. Shoes donated can be dirty, stinky and worn; that’s the most probable reason why they are chosen to be donated. But if you can rate the life left in a shoe, our aim is to collect those with 50% or more tread remaining. In other words, no holes in the soles please!
